School Visits
|
"There is nothing I like better than to share my love for books and writing with children." “Author visits are a fantastic way to inspire students to get excited about reading and writing!” My one-day school program consists of three (30-45 minute) fun and interactive workshops for grades 4-8. Smaller workshops enables the students to have a more up-close and personal experience than that of a large assembly. My goal is to inspire students to develop their own writing skills. I will explain the creation of a novel from start to finish while weaving in humorous anecdotes. Topics included are: An in-depth discussion of plotting, character development, themes, setting, revising a manuscript, how real life events can inspire you, and how to handle rejections. I will also explain the role of the editor and the copy editor and show the galleys of my book. To further enhance these topics, I will lead a creative writing exercise with the students how plot sand characters are developed from a single idea. |

A question and answer session will follow each session. I will also read an excerpt from my book if there is time. If you have any special needs, I would be happy to customize my presentation to fit your students.I would be delighted to sign copies of my book if this is arranged in advance.
My standard fee is $500 for up to 4 presentations (or $150 for one presentation) for a visit within a two mile drive from my home in Staten Island, NY. To set up a visit and find out how you can order books for your students, email me at Susan Amesse
